Slow Hatha Flow
Slow, steady yoga with an emphasis on the breath to harmonise the nervous system, balance the emotions and create calm. We practise in harmony with the seasons to cool the body in summer and warm it in winter, boosting natural immunity and improving vitality.
This approach will increase physical strength, encourage weight loss, improve sleep, reduce stress and relieve depression, to encourage a positive outlook and sense of well-being.
Tamsin has been teaching yoga for 12 years, running retreats, workshops and weekly classes. She trained in 2012 and holds a 500-hour teacher training certificate from ‘Sivananda Yoga Vidya Peetham’ in Kerala, under the guidance of Swami Govindananda Saraswati. The foundations of the Sivananda teaching are centred on the breath, postures, nutrition, positive thinking and guided relaxation.
Yin Yoga
Yin yoga is a contemplative practice that works the body in depth through passive, prolonged poses. It targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues - ligaments, joints, bones, the body's deep fascia networks and meridians. This contrasts with a Yang yoga practice, such as Hatha yoga, which targets the muscles. From an energetic point of view, Yin yoga improves the flow of energy, strengthening the circulation of chi in the organs. To be healthy, we need healthy organs and muscles. Yin yoga also offers wonderful benefits and balance on an emotional and mental level. A typical class uses props for support and many poses are done sitting or lying on the mat.
